Graphic Designer - Arts & Entertainment Division
Katharine Duckworth, originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is a University of Alabama graduate who majored in Marketing and minored in both Graphic Design and Advertising.
She first realized her love for design in high school when she joined the yearbook staff.
“When my teacher told me my freshman year that I would be editor and chief by my Junior year, I knew I had uncovered a talent I didn’t realize I’d had before.”
During her sophomore year of college, she had the opportunity to shadow FOX 6 News in Birmingham, Alabama. It was there she discovered her interest in marketing.
“That day I knew I had discovered what I wanted to do with my life, and what I wanted a major goal in my life to be. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in graphic design and marketing. It was an amazing and relieving feeling.”
Her Junior year she interned at FOX News in New York City in the digital sales and advertising department where she was able to sharpen her design skills, as well as learn the business side.
“It was a really eye opening and awesome experience working in that environment. The world of news is so fun and fast paced, but I knew it wasn’t the place for me. I knew I wanted to be in the entertainment industry more than anything.”
After graduation, she knew Nashville was the place to go to merge her passion for graphic design and marketing with her love for entertainment. In August 2018 she began her internship at Grayscale as a graphic designer and was promoted to a full-time employee 3 months later.
“I grew so much during those 3 months as an intern. I not only grew as a designer, but a person as well. I am so excited to finally be a part of the Grayscale team and can’t wait to see what my future has in store for me here.”
